Ayurveda
The sister science of Yoga, Ayurveda is a natural health care system developed in India as a way of self-healing. Working on the levels of body, mind and spirit, Ayurveda uses lifestyle regimens, diet, herbs and yogic practices as part of its healing modalities.
Based on the idea that each person is unique, Ayurveda suggests that what may be healthy for one person might be detrimental to another. Therefore, self-care is truly an individual process. In order to stay balanced we must first recognize our own true nature. Through Ayurveda, we come to understand how the elements of earth, water, fire, air and ether combine to create a person's individual constitution. Disease is cured and health is maintained by determining and sustaining one's natural state.
There are many factors in our lives that can create a state of dis-ease. These include our age, physical health, exercise habits, mental health, diet, family history, time of year, weather and stress levels. Ayurveda provides us with an entire methodology of right living for optimum health tailored to the needs of each person. Rather than treating the disease that a person has, Ayurveda treats the person that has the disease. Whether you are looking to enhance your current state of health or address a particular concern, Lexa will work
with you to create an Ayurvedic protocol to support your needs.
The first step is the initial consult. In this appointment, which is usually 90 minutes, Lexa uses traditional Ayurvedic assessment techniques to discover your prakriti, or basic constitution, and vikriti, or current state. This information will provide an overall picture of your health and will identify any areas of concern. Then a wellness program is created to guide you towards health and harmony. This in-depth plan consists of lifestyle recommendations, diet optimization, an herbal protocol, and yogic techniques such as asana, pranayama, and meditation techniques suggested as per your individual needs. You will leave with this wellness program in hand so that you can immediately begin to reclaim your health and vitality.
A follow up visit is usually recommended a couple of weeks after the initial visit, and periodically afterwards, to check in and monitor progress. Lexa is always available by phone or email if there are questions or concerns between visits.
Ayurveda can create profound changes in many areas that are commonly troublesome, such as digestion and elimination issues, insomnia, managing energy levels, weight management, skin rashes, anxiety and depression, and stress management, to name a few.
Consults are held in person at Yoga Secrets or online via Zoom, and can be individually purchased or bundled into a Wellness Journey.
